The Missing Diamond
Tequesta Trace Park, Weston Florida
This image is a tribute to those who have suffered the loss of a loved one and yet, continue to search for moments of joy and beauty in their lives.
Baseball practice parks are usually divided into 4 separate areas for teams to practice; these playable areas are called -diamonds-.
Each diamond can be used by one team at a time to practice. However, this park has only 3 diamonds and one empty field with nothing more than grass. Somehow, this barren field brought me nostalgic and melancholic feelings. Suddenly, this emptiness reminded me of the loss of someone special to me.
When we experience an unfortunate life milestone like this, everything around us seems like a reminder of our loss. We may feel deep sadness and frustration upon something that seems impossible to overcome.
It is a difficult journey, but with time, the support of family, friends, and fierce self-determination, it is possible to heal and rediscover joy.
Even though everyone mourns differently, it is said that focusing on the bright memories and the impact those experiences had on our life may help to cope with our loss.
Another excellent coping mechanism is to honor the person's memory in a meaningful way that expresses your love and gratitude.
With these ideas in mind, I took my drone over the baseball diamonds as a breathtaking sunset revealed itself on the horizon.
One of the fields, illuminated by the light posts, stood out like a beacon of hope. The ponds in the background shimmered with the golden glow of the sunset. The striking scene's beauty was a validation that even when things seem empty and desolate, beauty is still to be found.
This moment became the perfect metaphor for how we can transform our sadness into joy by reclaiming our appreciation for life, focusing on the beauty surrounding us, while honoring those who are no longer with us.
